The Donner Spring
TL Bar Ranch, Pilot Peak Utah
The Donner Spring, looking east towards the Bonneville Salt Flats. In 1846 the California bound Donner Party crossed the Great Salt Lake Desert and found refuge here. It took them 64 hours, traveling day and night without water to cross the desert. They spent 4 days here recuperating from their ordeal. They were later trapped by early snows while crossing the Sierras...with tragic consequences.
